SE is poetry in motion. And learning how to do it is like learning how to become fluent in a new language.

It’s a simultaneously delicate and chaotic balance between exposing yourself to it as much as possible so as to soak it in and understanding its structure so as to be able to make sense of what you’re soaking in.

A multifaceted, multidimensional process that is in no way linear, one that you can dedicate your entire life to and still be in awe of the numerous nuances you have yet to discover.

Being a curious, open and empathetic witness to another human being uncovering the frozen streams of their life force is in and of itself a dance of polarities, for nothing is so simple and so complex at the same time.

Because how can I contain you if I cannot contain myself?

How can I witness you in the places where I have not witnessed myself?

How can I stay truly present with the glorious expression of all that you are if I lack the capacity to stay present with the glorious expression of all that I am?

And at the same time, I will never "arrive". I will never be at a place where I contain all that I am, where I witness all that there is, where I am present with every facet of my expression – if that were the case, there would be no need for the continuation of life.

Because each new experience holds in it the potential to expand our consciousness, giving us new chances to contain, witness and stay present with ourselves.

What I CAN do is stay curious. Stay open. Stay empathetic. What I can do is notice the facets of my fragmented being that are in dire need of containment, witnessing and presence.

What I can do is honor where I’m really at. There is nothing more vulnerable than that.

So, I will contain you to the extent that I can contain myself. In this moment in time.

I will witness you to the extent that I can witness myself. In this moment in time.

I will stay present with you to the extent that I can stay present with myself. In this moment in time.

It is in that moment in time that we get to recognize our shared humanity. To feel that we are in this together. This recognition opens the door to healing. It enables the uncovering of the frozen streams of our life force.

And our life force has never not been ours. It has always been our birthright. It belongs to us just like streams belong to rivers. It’s just that some parts of it have been covered with ice caps.

But the great thing about ice is that it can melt. And when it finally does, we can flow again. Just like we were always meant to.
